"So long as the Arabs fight tribe agains tribe....so long
will they be a little people....a silly people...greedy, barbarous and cruel as you
are" quote from T.E. Lawrence to Arab Sheik. (Film- Lawrence of Arabia)

1- The Movie "Lawrence of Arabia" is about
the heroic true-life story of T.E. Lawrence. Lawrence had a brilliant academic career at
Oxford before the First World War. Army intelligence work in Egypt in the early years of
the war was the prelude to his participation in Emir Feisal's great Arab revolt against
the Ottomans, fame at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, and work with Winston Churchill
after the war.
2- Lawrence of Arabia: The Battle for the Arab World
Investigative documentary produced by PBS
3- A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia
This made-for-television sequel begins where the legendary film Lawrence of Arabia leaves
off. British officer T.E. Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) travels to the Paris Peace Conference
with Emir Feisal, the King of Syria, in an effort to win independence for the Arabs. But
he soon finds that backroom politics have become more lethal than desert combat because of
the recent discovery of the Middle East's vast oil reserves.
Thomas Edward Lawrence was a figurehead in the Arab struggle for independence. In 1916.
Lawrence with British backing united the Arab tribes under the flag of Emir Feisal and led
the strong guerrilla front into brilliant victories in treacherous desert battlefields.
They defeated the Turks who ruled over the Arab terroritories for over 400 years.
Britain's betrayal of the Arabs after World
War I and its subsequent carving up of the region for its own convenience is at the root
of many of the Middle East's problems today. Historians of both cultures are in agreement
on this point, and on most points. And it is interesting to note the similarities between
the political situation in the Middle East today and that of nearly a century ago.
Although the actions of the colonial powers undoubtedly created longstanding problems in
the region and engendered hostility toward Western nations, the Arab ideal of a single
unified Arab nation was probably a pipe dream.
