Former President Jimmy Carter Reveals Classified Information to Cuba

Former President Jimmy Carter shared classified information with communist Cuban officials, regarding Cuba’s biological weapons of mass destruction, from a meeting he had with U.S. intelligence experts prior to his Cuba trip. Carter then proceeded to praise Cuba for helping tens of millions of people who have benefitted from the island’s biotechnology programs. Carter also delivered a speech calling for the U.S. to open trade with an island listed on the State Department’s certified terrorist-sponsoring nations and with a man who has a rotten human rights record

"Jimmy the Peanut" is the first-ever American president to vacation and frolic on Castro’s island prison. No former president would embark on such a mission without the approval/encouragement of the current president. The Bush administration could have also denied Carter’s visa to travel to Cuba. What is the Jello Flavor of the Day at the White House? Peanut Flavor?

Bush’s policies towards Castro have so far been erratic and confused.Only weeks before Carter’s Cuba trip, an anonymous administration official claimed that the Bush Justice Department was considering studying the possibility of indicting Castro for shooting down two planes from a Miami-based humanitarian group. The leak was later denied.

During his presidential campaign, Bush promised to enforce the provision of the 1996 Helms-Burton law which allows U.S. citizens to sue those who have benefitted from property illegally seized by Cuba following the 1959 revolution. But, like Bill Clinton, Bush blocked that provision last year, giving in to pressure from key European allies who have hotel and other commercial interests in Cuba.

Bush also talks a lot about strengthening the embargo while American agricultural firms sell millions of dollars worth of food to Cuba for the first time since 1963.
