Israel expanded its offensive in the Hamas ruled Gaza Strip with a ground assault aimed at finally ridding the area of the radicals, most who are in hiding now. Rockets fired into Israel by the Islamist militants started the conflict. Hamas issued a statement in Gaza City taking responsibility for the rockets. Leaders of Hamas, an Arab acronym for the Islamic Resistance Movement, say Israel has no right to exist. Iran is believed to be a main supporter of Hamas distributing weapons, cash and training.

NY Democrat Governor David Paterson wants to raise $4 billion with 137 new or increased taxes and fees, including an 18 percent so-called "fat tax" on non-diet soft drink, satellite TV, cigars, clothing shoes. car rentals, beer, wine and gasoline. Many plan to "Escape from New York" to Sunny Florida and points south.

The Clinton Foundation has received over $46 million from foreign governments mainly Saudi Arabia, plus millions from foreign nationals. The donations from Arab countries could complicate Hillary Clinton's efforts in the Middle East and her Secretary of State position in the Obama White House.
