No other issue is more likely to destroy the Republican
party than their inaction and surrender to illegal immigration.
Why are U.S. citizens oblivious to the ongoing re-colonization of the United States by
Mexico? Are we desensitized by the propaganda of the immigrant special-interest groups to
the point that the reality of the demographics evades us?
In Los Angeles, the KRCA-TV cable station, Noticias 62, advertises with a billboard that
touts "Los Angeles, CA" but with the CA crossed out, and MEXICO stamped in
bright red letters, accompanied by the motto, "Tu ciudad. Tu equipo" (Your city.
Your team). The station's executive vice president, Lenard Liberman, responds, "But
you just have to drive around L.A. to know that this is a Hispanic city." The
billboard in L.A. is evidence of a Mexican drive well underway to re-colonize the United
States.
The bureaucracy of the Border Patrol is the biggest inpediment to border security in this
nation. Something has to be done, or the Minuteman Project will be just the tip of the
iceberg. It may not be long until citizen volunteer groups patrol most of our borders to
provide the security that our government refuses to provide.
President Bush and the Republican Party ignore this issue to their peril. No other single
issue is more likely to destroy a Republican majority than inaction or surrender to
illegal immigration.
Democrats led by Senators Kennedy, Durbin, Leahy, and Schumer consistently vote to
restrict border enforcement, support the "rights" of illegal aliens, and oppose
deportation.
Senator Kennedy's culpability dates back to his days as floor manager for the
Immigration Act of 1965 (known as the Hart-Celler Act) that opened the flood gates of
immigration – legal and especially illegal.
At the time, Senator Kennedy assured the American people, "The bill will not flood
our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not
relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their
jobs" (U.S. Senate, Feb. 10, 1965). Senator Kennedy never wavers in his support of
unlimited immigration to appeal to his one-world constituency. History has shown him to be
on the wrong side of immigration legislation in 1965, and he remains on the wrong side
today.
The proposed budget for 2006 by President Bush did not own up to its promise dictated in
the new law, and allowed only for an additional 210 Border Patrol agents instead of the
2,000. In January of 2005, former Homeland Security Secretary, Tom Ridge, was quoted prior
to the introduction of President Bush’s budget proposal in February, that “2,000
new border agents aren’t part of the budget.
Both Senators Clinton and Schumer were joined by several Republican senators including
Rick Santorum (R-PA), Arlen Specter (R-PA), George Voinovich (R-OH) and Richard Lugar
(R-IN) in voting against adding Border Patrol agents and adding detention beds. Senator
Schumer stated that there would not be enough money for first responders if the amendments
went forward. Senator Clinton wanted more money appropriated for mass transit. Instead
their failure to vote for the amendments did nothing to address their concerns and in the
process let down not only their constituents but the American people. The funding of mass
transit in 2006 in this ratified Senate bill was actually decreased from 2005 spending
from $150 million to $100 million and a far cry from the requested $1.16 billion.
The Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff also has been working with Secretary
of State Condoleezza Rice, to ease visa restrictions for foreigners working, attending
school or studying in the U.S. He said, “Security at U.S. borders should not come at
the cost of migrant immigrants who come to the U.S. to find work.” Sen. Tom Coburn
(R-OK) argued that “Border security was more important than reforming immigration
policy.”
Ultimately it is the inactions of the three branches of government and the continuation of
rhetoric and politically correct promises which will stall any progress on national
security as concerns our borders.
