Jesse Lee Peterson is now likely to get his day in court against
Jesse Jackson thanks to a July 12 ruling in California Superior Court. Jacksons
legal team had sought to have Judicial Watchs lawsuit against Jackson concerning his
alleged assault of Peterson dismissed, but were rebuffed by California Superior Court
Judge George Wu who indicated that Judicial Watchs claims are all but certain to go
to trial.
Judge Wu ordered a hearing on August 19 where it appears he will determine when the trial
is to begin. The conservative Reverend Jesse Lee Petersen, a long-time critic of Jesse
Jackson, was the victim of both a physical and verbal attack by Jackson, his son,
Jonathan, and television personality Judge Gregory Mathis at a public hearing sponsored by
Jacksons Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.
The event featured speakers from Toyota, announcing the companys 21st Century
Diversity Strategy, which included a minority outreach plan. The altercation
began after Reverend Peterson asked a Toyota representative if black conservatives! not
affiliated with the Rainbow/PUSH coalition would be eligible for the assistance being
offered by Toyota.
Reverend Petersen immediately found himself in a very hostile atmosphere incited by Jesse
Jackson, and was threatened and physically accosted as he tried to exit the event. We will
be sure to keep you posted as this case moves along.
