7-29-06 Update - Federal agents interviewed
family and friends and just announced they are now investigating the actions and motives
as a hate crime. Naveed Haq graduated from Richland High School in 1994. "Peace Be
Unto You" were the words that appeared with his name and picture in his yearbook
photo. A friend of Haq's who spoke on condition he not be named, said that Haq was on
medication for bipolar disorder and was frustrated by his inability to find a job or a
girlfriend. Haq displayed a streak of anti-Semitism, sometimes making offhand comments
about Jews. "He was a loner," the friend said. "I was probably one of his
only friends."
7-28-06 First report- "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," says
Pakastini. 1 dead, at least 5 wounded in shootings
"We believe it's a lone individual acting out his antagonism," said David Gomez,
who heads the FBI's counterterrorism efforts in Seattle. Authorities did not release any
details about the alleged gunman and would not discuss possible motives.
"There's nothing to indicate that it's terrorism related," Gomez said. Liberal
media outlets take the same stance. Initially they automatically reject terrorism and hate
crimes unless a Jew or Christian shoots Muslims in a Mosque. Sick societies that are
politically correct cowards will not survive. News outlets and journalists should report
the facts first then offer their opinions in editorials. Too many times they offer
opinions before all the facts are in to support their agendas.
7-28-06 Second report- Medical personnel remove a wounded victim among a
heavy police presence after the shooting at the Jewish Federation Building. One person was
dead and five others were hospitalized this afternoon in a shooting at the Jewish
Federation of Greater Seattle building in downtown Seattle by a man who declared he was
"angry with Israel."
Seattle police later arrested the alleged gunman, who reportedly had walked into the
building between Lenora and Virginia streets on Third Avenue in Belltown and started
shooting. At least three victims were women, according Seattle Fire Department medics.
Their names haven't been released, but one woman, described as 43, had been shot in the
abdomen. The age of a second shooting victim was not available, but police said she was 17
weeks pregnant.
One receptionist said. "He told the police that it was a hostage situation and he
wanted us to get our weapons out of Israel."
Most of the workers were able to leave through a back door. A few minutes later, the man
was apprehended by police officers.
Most of the victims were able to exit the building on their own accord. "I saw one
friend, she had been shot twice in the stomach and was bleeding," the witness said.
The employee said the man apparently was buzzed through a security door by a receptionist.
Amy Wasser Simpson, the vice president for planning and community services for the Jewish
Federation, said the man told staff members, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at
Israel," then began shooting. "A number of staff people heard some popping
sounds, then they heard a scream," Wasser-Simpson said. "They escaped out the
back door." Shortly after that, one staff member who was shot twice escaped through
the back door as well.
"Even if the shooting is based on hate, we're not going to let that have any kind of
victory over our community gathering," said Rabbi Jonathan Singer of Seattle's Temple
Beth Am.

ON ANOTHER NOTE- The FBI is investigating an online video
of two men shooting a Quran with a military rifle and one of them later tossing the book
outside a Chattanooga mosque.
Chattanooga lawyer Bill Speek said he believes the incident goes beyond free speech and
could be considered "terroristic threats and intimidation."
"Free speech stops when your action involves throwing objects at anothers
property," he said.
A federal law cited by the Council on American-Islamic Relations typically carries up to
10 years in prison and could involve other statutes, depending on the facts and
circumstances.
