Judicial Watch Back in Court to Stop Illegal Day Laborer Site....
The immigration debate continues to rage across the country, and Judicial Watch is right
in the middle of it. Next week they have a very important court date in their continuing
campaign to help enforce our nations immigration laws. Judge Kathleen MacKay has
scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, April 18 in the Circuit Court for the County of Fairfax
to hear oral arguments in Judicial Watchs day laborer site lawsuit.
Youll no doubt recall that Judicial Watch sued the Town.
Despite all of the legal tap-dancing, the legal issues involved are very simple. As
written in the original complaint, This case is about two local governments
using taxpayer property and funds to help illegal aliens in defying the law.
The Town of Herndon Fairfax County makes the shocking argument that they should be able to
use taxpayer funds to facilitate illegal activity in this case the funding of an
employment center designed to help illegal aliens find jobs. Judicial Watch argues that
the day laborer site violates a state law prohibiting the use of public funds to assist
illegal aliens, and at least 7 federal statutes, including laws that prohibit the
encouraging or inducing residence by illegal aliens, and laws making it
unlawful to provide certain public benefits to illegal aliens.
Judge MacKay will consider the merits of these arguments next week.
There is a page on their website dedicated to their work in the Herndon lawsuit.
